I feel like I take issue with their quick assurance that "generally, being obese is something that can be reversed" because... well, 1. statistically, that tends not to be true and 2. it's really quite beside the point.
But still.. "Others would prefer alcoholism or catching herpes to being massively overweight. One in four chose depression."

ReplyDeleteinteresting to note--I just posted (again) a link to an article citing the same statistic from the ASU study (about 1 in 4 people preferring severe depression to being fat). This, even though I read your posts a couple days ago..... Seems like the news is out there, but even the article I reference uses the literal poster-child of anorexia as example of the unfortunate consequences of this culture. Sigh. Not that starving bodies aren't critical--but *all* bodies are important.
